From recent clients:

Application truly reached its full potential

I had the foundational content for my Statement of Purpose, but it was through the exceptional guidance and expertise of Rubin that my application truly reached its full potential. His ability to refine and structure my ideas into a compelling and coherent narrative played a pivotal role in strengthening my profile.

Thanks to his support, I was successfully admitted to Virginia Tech and the highly prestigious EIT Digital Master School (KTH Royal Institute, Sweden) in Europe. I am sincerely grateful for his professionalism, attention to detail, and deep understanding of what makes a strong graduate application. I would highly recommend his services to anyone seeking to craft a powerful and impactful SOP.

Dona J.

Extremely personalized, at a fraction of what these people charge!

Working with Rubin has been a pleasant experience. Though his area of expertise had been writing statements for applicants targeting US/UK universities, he did an amazing job of writing statements specific to my field at the universities I was applying in Europe. There wasn’t a single instance where the deadlines set for the statements had to be extended, despite whatever personal commitments he had. I’d 100% recommend taking Rubin’s services for foreign applications.

Multiple top offers!

Offers from (Data Science/Information Systems): Carnegie Mellon University, Duke University, University of Texas Austin, University of Washington, University of Chicago & University of Southern California

My overall experience has been great! I’m very satisfied with the outcomes as well. Thank you so much for your time and effort. I really appreciate the detailed knowledge transfer sessions and your approach to handling various statementsโ€”be it SOP, PS, diversity, essay questions, technical questions, etc.

Your writing skills were amazing and I loved how you were able to connect my technical and social experiences in a seamless manner. Your techniques were very precise and pertinent. The brainstorming sessions really helped me when I was confused/stuck and you were quite responsive whenever I needed any assistance.

I also admire the fact that you were very genuine and patient throughout the process! I am really grateful for your services and wish you all the best in your future endeavors! Would definitely recommend it to others!

Was told that I won’t get good offers by other big-name consultants, but admitted into 6/6 top universities

Offers from (Environmental Management/Environmental Engineering): Yale University, University of Michigan, Duke University, University of Pennsylvania, University of Texas Austin & Georgia Tech

Your counselling style is very unique and well-focused on the studentโ€™s interests and ambitions. I had spoken to almost 6 counselors, among them big names, but always got a negative response from each of them regarding my interest in pursuing an unconventional course. A few were too expensive, and a few told me that I wonโ€™t be able to get into any good uni or secure a good job and that I should stick to industrial engineering.

On the contrary, your way of counselling gave me so much clarity on what I have and lack, and how I could stand out with my profile. Usually other consultants like to make a uniform profile for every student but you really put yourself in the shoes of the student and the long conversations, the way you push the student to think about the idea/theme of their essay rather than just serving content, I feel helped me a lot to be very precise with my essay and even gave me so much clarity on what I could do during and after masters.

I absolutely adore how you keep a thread throughout the essays and the application. Of course, no doubt the fee is minimal for the exceptional service you provide. I also love that you are very organised and stick to deadlines.

Iโ€™m beyond grateful for his patience, insight, and honesty

Offers from (Neuroscience, Human Health Sciences): Johns Hopkins University, University of California at Los Angeles, University of California at San Diego, and more…

Rubin Sirโ€™s guidance was instrumental in shaping my college applications. We began brainstorming ideas months before my first deadline, breaking everything down step by stepโ€”figuring out the right angles for my essays, refining my narrative, and making sure my voice came through in every word. He has this way of asking just the right questions that make you rethink and refine your writing without losing your voice. With offers from JHU, UCLA, USC, BU, UC San Diego, UIUC, NEU, and more, I genuinely couldnโ€™t have done this without his support. Iโ€™m beyond grateful for his patience, insight, and honesty.

His ability to assess each situation individually and provide tailored advice is, in my opinion, his greatest strength

Offers from (Technology & Policy): ETH Zurich, TU Delft

The edits and suggestions I received were truly essential in helping me highlight my strengths effectively. After reading numerous other motivation letters, I realized that Rubinโ€™s critical insights addressed key aspects I had overlooked in my letter, strengthening my case for why I want to pursue this course.

His ability to assess each situation individually and provide tailored advice is, in my opinion, his greatest strength. In my case, as someone transitioning fields, he not only offered thoughtful guidance but also shared valuable insights on how I can demonstrate my acumen towards the new field, which in turn greatly supported my application.

From following LinkedIn posts to top university offers

Offers from (Computer Science): University of California San Diego, University of Massachusetts Amherst, and more…

Rubin helped me in many different ways. I first got to know him through his LinkedIn posts. I used to read his posts and suggestions and apply them whenever possible. Later, when I was planning to pursue higher education, I immediately thought of reaching out to Rubin.

He helped me in numerous ways. First, he guided me in understanding what I truly wanted to do in my career. Then, he narrowed down my options and provided valuable tips on selecting the right university, which was crucial. He also carefully curated a well-personalized set of documents that accurately reflected my intentions.

Even though I often pressured him, he remained calm and even went the extra mile by creating an additional document that wasnโ€™t part of our original agreement.

To sum it up, working with Rubin not only guarantees strong documentation but also helps you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your goals.

His personal approach made me feel comfortable with the application process

Offers from (Computer Science, AI): Northwestern University, New York University, and more…

My first encounter with Rubin Sir was through his LinkedIn post, where he shared a comprehensive list of universities in the U.S. along with their respective fields. This valuable resource hooked me onto his account, as it provided detailed educational content that felt like the best-curated study abroad information all in one place.

When I started working with Rubin Sir, we began from scratch to navigate the entire application journey. I remember precisely how he gave me a complete rundown of the timelines and what would be expected of me at each point along the way. Unlike other consulting firms and name-brand agencies, where I would typically submit a Google form to summarize my academic and professional endeavors, Rubin Sir had one-on-one conversations with me. His personal approach made me feel comfortable with the application process, allowing me to share in-depth opinions and views on each important aspect.

I felt like I was reliving and documenting every relevant event, no matter the size. This process was pivotal in helping me understand my holistic standing in the application journey. With Rubin Sir, I never felt like just another profile in a vast sea of deserving students and applicants. I felt exceptionally heard and cared for, which significantly eased the anxiety I had before starting this journey, particularly after my previous experiences with a well-known study abroad agency.

I am sincerely grateful for the experience I had with Rubin Sir during the application process. He not only surpassed my expectations but also consistently went above and beyond. The guidance he provided was invaluable, helping me refine my interests and areas of excellence. Throughout the timeline of my application, I never felt like I was engaged in this process for the sake of an end result; it seemed like a natural progression.

From just 1 “safe” admit in 2024, to 5/9 admits in 2025!

Offers from (Computer Science): University of California San Diego, University of California Davis, University of Illinois Chicago and more…

I had a great experience with the letters, essays and the CV. Rubinโ€™s questionnaires were great and helped a lot with focusing on the important parts of the overall profile that need to be highlighted for a graduate program. He was also very accommodating during the entire process. I would highly recommend his services to everyone applying to grad school, his knowledge is exceptional!

8 admits out of 11 applications!

Offers From (Computer Engineering): Texas A&M University, University of Southern California, North Carolina State University, and more…

I got really good support throughout the process. Everything was very organic. Very good grasp of existing trends. Every document, including the CV and SOP, was ensured it is tailor made for you which requires first understanding the client and what their needs. College selection list was very realistic and results do speak for it.

Based on anecdotal experiences I have accumulated from friends and acquaintances, the usual consulting companies are trying to scale, and while doing this they lose track of the client and make everything robotic and bulk of the work needs to be done by the client. It’s not the case here.

Siddharth B. (Computer Engineering, Fall 25)

Offers from (Computer Science): New York University, Virginia Tech, Pennsylvania State University, and more…

Working with Rubin has transformed my master’s application journey. I reached out to him well in advance of the application deadline, feeling lost and unsure about the requirements and how admissions committees would assess my profile.

What sets Rubin apart is his unique ability to empathize with applicants, stepping into their shoes to understand what admissions committees are looking for in an application. His approach is not about simply jotting down achievements or hyping up profiles but about truly understanding the applicant’s and the admission committee’s perspective. Rubin did dedicated research to understand each university’s requirements. I applied to over 10 universities and Rubin drafted Statements of Purpose (SOPs) tailored to each school’s criteria. This personalized approach worked for me , with admits from some of my top choice universities, many of which I had initially perceived as out of reach. Rubin’s integrity shows in his commitment to accurately representing the applicant’s accomplishments, focusing on the impact of academic and research projects rather than overstating achievements.

His keen attention to detail and insistence on understanding the nuances of each project’s significance resonated authenticity with the admissions committees. When it came to shortlisting colleges, Rubin’s expertise was invaluable. He listened to my preferences and provided insights into my chances of admission at various institutions. He helped me to make informed decisions by connecting me with students from different colleges, allowing me to gain firsthand insights and this helped me on finalizing my university as well.

I have recommended him to several friends, all of whom have experienced the same exceptional level of support and guidance. Rubin, thank you for being an integral part of one of the most significant milestones in my life.

Eased the daunting process of applying abroad

Offers from (Psychology and Behavioural Sciences): University College London, University of Edinburgh

I am very happy with the overall experience. Interacting with him was always a delight, and he eased the daunting process of applying abroad. Rubin has this unique talent for refining information, unlike anyone else. Additionally, Rubin has always been very responsive, promptly assisting me with urgent admission-related matters whenever needed. Perhaps most importantly, Rubin is a genuine individual whom I confidently turn to for any advice, and he has consistently inspired me to strive for more than I thought possible. I wholeheartedly endorse his services to everyone.

Sneha J. (University College London, Fall 2024))

Streamlined and efficient

Offer from (Computer Science): Georgia Tech (Single Application)

The entire process was very streamlined and efficient. For each document that has to be prepared, there is a meeting to understand what I had to offer, there is research on what information is needed for the document, and justice was done as to how it was tailored according to me. Overall, I was extremely happy with the entire process which was totally worth the money.

WAMs have immense potential to give you an edge, in addition to your academic and professional background. I specialize in developing high-quality written materials that make you and your story shine while matching the demands of competitive and selective programs.

University and Program Shortlist

I understand how confusing shortlisting can get and I am happy to support you in the process. I have found shortlisting to be a very qualitative and intuitive process, which is why I include it in my applications package.

The support leverages my experiences as much as possible, and I will guide your efforts too. I do not have any tie-ups, and the process is entirely dependent on your profile, requirements and fit.

The list will include key details that will help you narrow down your target programs and increase your chances of getting in.

Available only as an add-on at my discretion for pay-as-you-go services (i.e., besides the packages).

*FAQs

Do you write from scratch?

Ideally no. I work with you to develop WAMs from scratch, and retain your voice. I need information to write. If asked to write a statement or essay with very little information, I will have to decline. However, if you are willing to provide detailed information in writing or are confused about getting started with your draft, I will be happy to help you. Feel free to get in touch!

How many applicants/mentees do you work with?

Since I work independently, the time and effort I put in allow me to work with ~20 applicants a year. To maximise the chances of a win-win, I am selective in choosing applicants to work with.

If you are reading this after the spots are filled for the complete applications package, I would be happy to speak with you to discuss alternatives. I could also refer you to excellent consultancies that I am familiar with – The Red Pen and Ivyprep.

Do you assist PhD applicants?

Yes, I do! However, I have to be very even more selective (about 2-3 PhD applicants per year). This is contingent on the groundwork you have done, and knowing that my assistance will be beneficial to you.

Do you assist applicants from countries other than India?

Yes, I do! The only condition is that you must have PayPal, as that is the only means for me to receive payment from outside India, or you must know someone in India who can pay on your behalf.

Your charges are too good to be true. Why do you charge so reasonably?

While consultants charge in the lakhs (as much as INR 500,000 + GST) for very similar services, I strongly believe in fairness and accessibility. Assisting applicants over the past 7 years has made one thing absolutely clear: reducing costs during the application process is vital.

Further, my current charges are not based on “market-pricing” but on reviews from people like you. However, the aspect that continues to improve is quality. To be frank, I can’t deliver lower quality. It is against my values, and after improving my skills constantly over the years, my process and results match my learnings.

Can I get a sample of your work?

No, I have a strict no-sample-sharing policy. If you would like to know about my work and experience, I will be happy to connect you with a past applicant for feedback.

How many universities are included in your packages?

It depends on you! In the package, I am to develop drafts that cover a range of application materials, particularly the statements. You may come across a program that needs a single, 2-page statement of purpose, or a program that asks for 3 different statements (including optional ones). Once we cover the range of documents, it is just a matter of changing some portions for repeated documents, which I can review.

What is your process?

You can find an overview of my process here. I try to align my process with your needs, timeline, and methods.

What is your refund policy?

  1. I do not issue refunds for work which has already been performed.
  2. In case you, having made the payment, decide not to avail of the said services within 2 days of the Effective Date (as per the Agreement), I am happy to use your payment towards another service, if requested within 7 days of the Effective Date. Depending on the other service, you will be required to sign a new agreement.
  3. I typically charge a non-refundable 25% advance (for charges above โ‚น15,000). I will refund that in very rare cases, such as if you decide not to proceed immediately after you pay the advance. The balance amount is paid in portions depending on the services, and hence there has never been a need for me to issue a refund.
Do you help meet word or character counts?

Yes, indeed! I edit based on your/application requirements, which can include a specific word or character count.

How do you count the number of words for the editing service?

I shall round the number of words in your draft to the nearest hundred. For example, if your draft is 750 words or lower, I will charge for 700 words, and for a draft that is 751-800 words, I will charge for 800 words.

If your draft is 600 words, and you need a statement that is 950-1000 words, I would require a draft that is at least 850 words. However, if your draft is 806 words and you need a final statement of 500 words, I will charge for 800 words.

Please see my process for further information.

What if I am not satisfied with the edit?

I try to understand your requirements before editing. In the case of clashing ideas, it is my duty to help you understand what could be better, as per my experience, training and results.

Edits usually include two or three rounds of revisions (or more if necessary), wherein you can provide feedback and comments for me to work with. I welcome critiques of my work. However, if your suggestions or wishes stand against what a good statement or recommendation should include, I may decline to include them in my edit. There will most likely be no refund in such a case.

For instance, if you would like to describe a project in extreme detail (and I find that the details are not adding value to the statement), I will express my thoughts clearly and ask you to include those details yourself.

I want to choose your complete university applications package, but I do not have the funds at the moment. What should I do?

That is not an issue at all. For costs over โ‚น30,000, the payments are always in instalments. This has never been an issue for anyone.

Which countries do you assist with?

Given my experience as a master’s student in the US, and associated factors, I prefer work with applicants applying to the US. However, I am open to other countries, such as the UK, Australia, Cadana and European countries on a case-by-case basis.

What is your success rate?

Almost all the people who chose the full service applied to multiple programs and received multiple offers, often from their preferred choices. There are quite a few who applied to very few (less than 3) but highly selective programs and also received at least 1 offer.

Rejections are common when applying to highly selective programs. It is high-risk and high-reward, and no one can guarantee or predict admission outcomes.

To date (2018-2025), there have been 4 people who did not receive a single offer in that round. But the reasons varied, from changes in foreign country visa policies, to issues with transcripts/scores and simply being too ambitious.
