I am very happy with the overall experience. Interacting with him was always a delight, and he eased the daunting process of applying abroad. Rubin has this unique talent of refining information unlike anyone else. Additionally, Rubin has always been very responsive, promptly assisting me with urgent admission-related matters whenever needed. Perhaps most importantly, Rubin is a genuine individual whom I confidently turn to for any advice, and he has consistently inspired me to strive for more than I thought possible. I wholeheartedly endorse his services to everyone.

Your approach for the recommendations was impressive. First, you began by conducting a thorough assessment of my overall profile, followed by a careful check of my academic & professional checkpoints through discussions. Then, with your exceptional writing skills, you connected those checkpoints and created unique personalised documents that best described my strengths and potential. Your work exceeded my expectations Rubin, and I am grateful for that.

I work with applicants who only apply to and have secured admission from highly reputed universities (usually the world’s best). Please see past acceptances and testimonials from my mentees here.

My approach is simple: I understand you and your goals and help your application reflect those in the best way possible. This proven approach has helped over 110 people receive admission from the world’s best universities, quite a few with scholarships too!

Also, my average fee is extremely competitive as compared to the top non-tie-ups-based Indian consultants (including those I work with).

From editing one document to extensive university application support, my goal is to help you create the best possible applications!

Written Application Materials (WAMs) and Management

Writing application materials, such as a CV/resume, recommendations, statements and essays, takes time, effort and expertise. You are writing vertically, i.e., for the reader (reviewers), but in a nuanced way to explain experiences from your life. WAMs have immense potential to give you an edge, in addition to your academic and professional background. I specialize in developing high-quality written materials that make you and your story shine while matching the demands of competitive and selective programs.

  • We will develop WAMs from scratch: brainstorming, information gathering, crafting drafts and revising them until you submit.
  • This service includes up to 10 WAMs (with a minimum of 5). Typically the 10 WAMs include 1 CV, 3-4 LORs, and 5-6 statements and/or essays.
  • The objective is to cover many types of WAMs across multiple applications.
  • I will help you maintain a schedule to submit most/all of your applications well before the deadlines.
  • Please note that I work in batches, and will accept new requests for this service until September 2024.

I am extremely grateful for Rubin’s invaluable support during my graduate admissions process. I started out with the essay’s quite late in the application season, but Rubin helped me plan out a timeline and took my initial draft into a much more refined and polished version. More importantly, he helped craft a well-planned SOP which conveyed a story with a good flow. His experience in the graduate admissions sphere and his candor definitely helped ease some of my apprehensions and lack of clarity in the admissions process.

Hetav M. (MS in CS, Georgia Tech, Class of 2025); multiple offers from leading universities
  • Editing your WAMs includes comprehensive line-by-line suggestions and changes (or even rewriting it). I use Quillbot (premium) to deliver a final edit that is 100% plagiarism and error-free.
  • The edits will match the standards of the best universities in the world while making your story shine.
  • My process is completely transparent, and by the end of it, you will be able to write top-notch essays for future applications.
  • The pricing includes up to 3 additional revisions.
  • *Delivery time is subject to the time of the year (October to January is the busiest), your availability and the number of documents.
  • Reviewing WAMs includes up to 3 online review sessions, with each session lasting up to 90 minutes to go over your complete drafts.
  • I will review your drafts prior to our meeting and note down my thoughts as comments wherever applicable. This ensures that we make the best use of our session(s) with detailed discussions, bouncing of ideas, and specific suggestions to maximize the impact of your WAMs.
  • I typically offer this service during the peak season (October to January), but will try to accommodate your needs outside from the peak season too.

University Shortlist

I understand how confusing shortlisting can get, and will be happy to support you in the process. I have found shortlisting to be a very qualitative and intuitive process, which is why I include it in my “Complete Applications Support” service only, at no additional cost. The support leverages my experiences as much as possible, and will rely heavily on your efforts too. I do not have any tie-ups, and the process is entirely dependent on your profile, requirements and fit.

The list will include key details that will help you narrow down your target programs and increase your chances of getting in.

Available only as an add-on as per my discretion.

FAQs

Do you write from scratch?

Yes and no. I work with you to develop WAMs from scratch, and retain your voice. I need information to write. If asked to write a statement or essay with very little information, I will have to decline. However, if you are willing to provide detailed information in writing or are confused about getting started with your draft, I will be happy to help you. Feel free to get in touch!

How many applicants/mentees do you work with?

Since I work independently, the time and effort I put in allow me to work with ~20 applicants a year. To maximise the chances of a win-win, I am selective in choosing applicants to work with.

If you are reading this after the spots are filled for the complete applications package, I would be happy to speak with you to discuss alternatives. I could also refer you to excellent consultancies that I work with – The Red Pen and Ivyprep.

Do you assist PhD applicants?

Yes, I do! However, I have to be very even more selective (about 2-3 PhD applicants per year). This is contingent on the groundwork you have done, and knowing that my assistance will be beneficial to you.

Do you assist applicants from countries other than India?

Yes, I do! The only condition is that you must have PayPal, as that is the only means for me to receive payment from outside India, or you must know someone in India who can pay on your behalf.

Your charges are too good to be true. Why do you charge so reasonably?

While consultants charge in the lakhs (as much as INR 500,000+ or $7,000+) for very similar services, I strongly believe in fairness and accessbility. Assisting applicants over the past 6 years has made one thing absolutely clear: reducing costs during the application process is vital.

Further, my current charges are not based on “market-pricing” but on reviews from people like you. However, the aspect that continues to improve is quality. To be frank, I can’t deliver lower quality. It is against my values, and after improving my skills constantly over the years, my process and results match my learnings.

Can I get a sample of your work?

No, I have a strict no-sample-sharing policy. If you would like to know about my work and experience, I will be happy to connect you with a past applicant for feedback.

How many universities are included in your “Complete Application(s) Support” package?

It depends on you! In the package, I am to develop drafts that cover a range of application materials, particularly the statements. You may come across a program that needs a single, 2-page statement of purpose, or a program that asks for 3 different statements (including optional ones). Once we cover the range of documents, it is just a matter of changing a few details for repeated documents, which I leave up to you, and I can review a pre-determined number of final drafts.

What is your process?

You can find an overview of my process here. I try to align my process with your needs, timeline, and methods.

What is your refund policy?

  1. I do not issue refunds for work which has already been performed.
  2. In case you, having made the payment, decide not to avail of the said services within 2 days of the Effective Date (as per the Agreement), I am happy to use your payment towards another service, if requested within 7 days of the Effective Date. Depending on the other service, you will be required to sign a new agreement.
  3. I typically charge a non-refundable 25% advance (for charges above ₹10,000). I will refund that in very rare cases, such as if you decide not to proceed immediately after you pay the advance. The balance amount is paid in portions depending on the services, and hence there has never been a need for me to issue a refund.
Do you help meet word or character counts?

Yes, indeed! I edit based on your/application requirements, which can include a specific word or character count.

How do you count the number of words for the editing service?

I shall round the number of words in your draft to the nearest hundred. For example, if your draft is 750 words or lower, I will charge for 700 words, and for a draft that is 751-800 words, I will charge for 800 words.

If your draft is 600 words, and you need a statement that is 950-1000 words, I would require a draft that is at least 850 words. However, if your draft is 806 words and you need a final statement of 500 words, I will charge for 800 words.

Please see my process for further information.

What if I am not satisfied with the edit?

I try to understand your requirements before editing. In the case of clashing ideas, it is my duty to help you understand what could be better, as per my experience, training and results.

Edits usually include two or three rounds of revisions (or more if necessary), wherein you can provide feedback and comments for me to work with. I welcome critiques of my work. However, if your suggestions or wishes stand against what a good statement or recommendation should include, I may decline to include them in my edit. There will most likely be no refund in such a case.

For instance, if you would like to describe a project in extreme detail (and I find that the details are not adding value to the statement), I will express my thoughts clearly and ask you to include those details yourself.

I want to choose your complete university applications package, but I do not have the funds at the moment. What should I do?

That is not an issue at all. For costs over ₹10,000, the payment are always in instalments. This has never been an issue for anyone.

Which countries do you assist with?

Given my experience as a master’s student in the US, and associated factors, I primarily work with applicants applying to the US. However, I am open to other countries, such as the UK, Europe and Canada, on a case-by-case basis.

What is your success rate?

Almost all the people who chose the full service applied to multiple programs and received multiple offers, often from their preferred choices. There are quite a few who applied to very few (less than 3) but highly selective programs and also received at least 1 offer. Rejections are common when applying to highly selective programs. It is high-risk and high-reward, and no one can guarantee or predict admission outcomes.

To date (2018-2024), there have been 4 people who did not receive a single offer in that round. But the reasons varied, from changes in foreign country visa policies, to issues with transcripts/scores and simply being too ambitious.
